Humanitix fees and pricing in Australia (2026): what hosts and buyers pay

Prices checked 2 October 2026. Every Humanitix figure below comes from Humanitix's own pages, listed under Sources at the bottom. Where they don't spell something out, we say so.
Humanitix fees are one of the simpler structures in Australian ticketing: a percentage plus a flat amount per paid ticket, with GST added on top. Humanitix is a not-for-profit, so the other thing people ask about is where the fee goes. Here's what Humanitix publishes about its fees and pricing in Australia, and what they come to on real tickets.
Humanitix fees: the published rates
Humanitix's help centre lists three Australian rates (AUD):
| Rate | Fee per paid ticket | GST |
|---|---|---|
| Standard | 4% + $0.99 | plus 10% GST |
| Not-for-profit and charity | 2.5% + $0.50 | GST exempt |
| Box office | 3% + $1 | plus 10% GST, and "No fees for cash sales" |
Humanitix's pricing page shows the standard rate as "4 % + $0.99 Per paid ticket (excl. GST)", so the two pages agree that GST goes on top of the standard rate.
Humanitix says there are:
- "No fees for free tickets/events"
- "No fees for imported tickets or manual orders"
- "No subscription fees"
- "No sign-up fees"
The rate depends on the currency your event is charged in, and registered not-for-profit and charity organisations are eligible for the discounted rate.
Humanitix pricing on real ticket prices
This is our arithmetic on Humanitix's published standard rate. Fee = (ticket price × 4% + $0.99) × 1.10. That's the same formula Humanitix uses in its own worked example: "($100 x 4% + $50 x 4% + $0.99 x 2) x 110% = $8.778".
| Ticket price | Fee before GST | Fee including 10% GST |
|---|---|---|
| $20 | $1.79 | $1.97 |
| $35 | $2.39 | $2.63 |
| $50 | $2.99 | $3.29 |
| $80 | $4.19 | $4.61 |
| $150 | $6.99 | $7.69 |
The fixed $0.99 weighs most on cheap tickets, and the percentage takes over as the price climbs. See Ticketing fees in Australia compared for the other platforms side by side.
Who pays the Humanitix fee?
By default, the buyer: "the Humanitix booking fee is passed on to the ticket buyer, meaning they pay this fee on top of their ticket price. You take home 100% of the ticket sale." Humanitix's pricing page also lists a "Custom fees structure" among its features, and its help centre has an article on splitting the cost of the booking fee with buyers. We haven't relied on either for numbers, so check the host settings for how it works on your event.
What the fee covers
On the default Humanitix payment gateway, Humanitix says "Payment processing fees are covered by the Humanitix booking fee". So there's no separate card fee to add on the default gateway. Two exceptions it spells out:
- AMEX and PayPal are "subject to surcharges that are always paid by the buyer".
- If you connect your own Stripe account, "Stripe charges additional fees for its services", deducted from your revenue before payout.
Payouts
Humanitix says that on the default gateway, event payouts are made "within 5 business days after the event's completion date", with no transfer fees. That's after the event, so if you've got a venue deposit and artist fees due before the show, check whether your event can access earlier payouts. Humanitix says Stripe is recommended for events needing flexible access to ticket sales before the event date.
What the fee adds up to over a whole event
A per-ticket fee looks small until you multiply it. This is our arithmetic on a $35 ticket at the standard rate: ($35 × 4% + $0.99) × 1.10 = $2.63 per ticket including GST. Across 600 tickets that's 600 × $2.63 = $1,578 in fees. By default Humanitix passes that to your buyers, so they pay $35 plus $2.63 at checkout and you take home the full $35. Absorb it instead and the same $1,578 comes out of your takings.
Humanitix's own example is a single order with two tickets: "($100 x 4% + $50 x 4% + $0.99 x 2) x 110% = $8.778". The $0.99 is charged per ticket, so a group booking pays it once per ticket, not once per order.
What to check before you choose Humanitix
- Are you eligible for the not-for-profit rate? Humanitix says registered not-for-profit and charity organisations are eligible. Ask what it needs from you.
- Which payment gateway will your event use? Payout timing and extra fees depend on it.
- Do you need money before the event? On the default gateway payouts come after.
- How will you handle resale? The pricing page lists Tixel. Find out how that works for your event.
- Do you want the fee to be part of your budget? If so, it's the wrong model, and you want a platform where you set the fee and keep it.
Where the fee goes
Humanitix is explicit: "As a true non-profit, Humanitix dedicates 100% of profits from ticket booking fees towards some of the world's best front-line impact projects". If that matters to your crowd, it's a real selling point. It also means the fee isn't part of your event budget.
On eventflo, the fee is 2% of the ticket price on each paid ticket, minimum $1, maximum $5, GST inclusive. You pay it out of the ticket price, buyers never see it, and free tickets carry no eventflo fee. You can add your own booking fee (per ticket) and/or transaction fee (per order) on top, each from A$0.10 to A$10.00. Buyers pay those and you keep 100% of both. Your booking fee applies on tickets resold through FloMarket, our official fan-to-fan resale, and you keep it there too.
What else is on the pricing page
Humanitix's pricing page says "ALL plans get access to ALL features" and lists, among others, a scanning app, reserved seating, a waitlist, email campaigns and "Resell tickets with Tixel". We haven't checked how each works, so see them for yourself before you commit.
