Prices checked 2 October 2026. Every figure comes from each platform's own pages, listed under Sources at the bottom.
Humanitix vs Eventbrite is the comparison most Australian promoters make first: the global marketplace against the not-for-profit. Here's how their published fees stack up, and who each one suits.
Humanitix vs Eventbrite: the fees
| Eventbrite | Humanitix | |
|---|---|---|
| Published fee on a paid ticket | 5.35% + $1.19 | 4% + $0.99, plus 10% GST |
| Not-for-profit rate | Not listed on the pages we checked | 2.5% + $0.50 (GST exempt) |
| Free events | No fees | No fees |
| Who pays by default | Buyer | Buyer |
| Fee on add-ons | Yes, "for every paid ticket and add-on you sell" | Not stated on the pages we checked |
| Paid plan | Premium, A$99/month or A$1,068/year (optional; Eventbrite says eligibility is being expanded gradually, starting with organizers in the United States) | "No subscription fees" |
| Where the fee goes | Eventbrite | Humanitix says 100% of profits go to impact projects |
On real ticket prices
This is our arithmetic. Eventbrite: (price × 5.35%) + $1.19. Humanitix: (price × 4% + $0.99) × 1.10, the same formula Humanitix uses in its own worked example. Eventbrite's pages don't say whether its rate includes GST, so we've left GST out of its numbers.
| Ticket price | Eventbrite | Humanitix (before GST) | Humanitix (including 10% GST) |
|---|---|---|---|
| $20 | $2.26 | $1.79 | $1.97 |
| $50 | $3.87 | $2.99 | $3.29 |
| $150 | $9.22 | $6.99 | $7.69 |
Humanitix comes out lower at all three prices, with or without GST. The gap widens as the ticket price rises, because Eventbrite's percentage is higher.
What else differs
- Payouts. Humanitix says payouts on its default gateway come "within 5 business days after the event's completion date". Eventbrite's pricing page lists "Pre-event payouts" as a feature, but we haven't confirmed the Australian terms, so ask before you plan around it.
- Card fees. Humanitix says processing fees are "covered by the Humanitix booking fee", with AMEX and PayPal surcharges paid by the buyer. Eventbrite's help centre shows its Australian payment processing fee as "Not applicable".
- Reach. Eventbrite sells on being a marketplace. Humanitix lists "Resell tickets with Tixel" among its features.
How to choose in a minute
- If your event is a charity, school or community fundraiser, start with Humanitix and check the not-for-profit rate on your own account.
- If marketplace reach matters more than the fee, price Eventbrite's service fee into your ticket and check the "How fees work" breakdown on your ticket type.
- If you'd rather the fee funded your event than either platform, price that option too.
- Whichever you pick, run the same $50 ticket through both checkouts before you commit and ask about payout timing in writing.
Who each suits
- Eventbrite: events that want a big marketplace and are comfortable with a percentage-plus-flat fee paid by the buyer.
- Humanitix: charity and community events, and any crowd that cares where the fee goes.
- Neither lets you add a fee and keep it. On both, the fee is the platform's. On eventflo, eventflo's own fee is 2% of the ticket price (minimum $1, maximum $5, GST inclusive), paid by the organiser. You can add your own booking fee and/or transaction fee on top (A$0.10 to A$10.00 each), which buyers pay and you keep 100% of. Our arithmetic: a $50 ticket is 2% = $1.00.
